    Kirk Pond Fishing Reports

Unfortunately no, they did give me a good tip, one of Dorena’s boat launches is a Lane County Park, I believe Baker Bay. The campground is closed, but sounds like the ramp is open. I might go check it out tomorrow. I usually have my sights set on Cottage Grove right about now.

    Kirk Pond Fishing Reports

I called the local Army Corp. of Engineers office which oversees this area. The Ranger I spoke with confirmed Kirk Pond is closed because the banks surrounding the pond are under their management. And even worse news, Cottage Grove lake and all access points are closed as well due to Covid.

    How to fish certain setups!

Starting with the bead question; your weight should be at or slightly deeper than the river depth. It should be tapping or slightly dragging bottom. I would say not to let it drag too much, I have the best luck when my bobber it pointed slightly down river, which answers question 2. With float...

    25 Feb 12

I believe the sign has closure dates written on it. Most rivers have similar signs which have handwritten season dates on them. I think the confusion with Lake Creek, is the written regulations indicate Salmon season is open in the fall, however the special regulations that come out in the...

    Delta Ponds inquiry

I fished it a few times earlier in the spring and caught a few small ones. I drove by a few days ago and the water level is so low, places I used to catch fish are dried up. I was hopeful the fishing would return once they were done working, but it has gotten worse. I'm sure the bass are still...

    Will my rod do??

It will get you started. What you will notice is it's hard to control your line with such a short rod. After casting out, your main line will make contact with the water causing a "belly" which will pull your float downstream too fast. Long rods help aviod this. However, in the mean time...

    Technical question about using spinners:

I use primarily #3 R&B spinners. I use a Loomis 9' medium light action, 1083S. I like using P-Line CX 10# line, which allows you to cast a mile. R&B spinners are heavier than store bought, but if you don't have a choice, buy #3 silver and copper Mepps Aglias. I'm glad you ordered Jed's book...

    Pontoon fishing

You would have to register your pontoon if you use any motor, electric or not. I have a 7 footer I just bought last summer to use on local ponds. I've only had it out once and love it. It has an anchor system which is necessary for any body of water, otherwise you'll be spinning and blowing...
