I don't have a lot of money as I just started a new job. Saw a targus basic fly tying kit at dicks and was wondering if the vise in there is half way decent?

If it will hold a hook that's a good vise to start with and then go up from there as skill improves ;)

I've been tying flies for a few years now and my vise that came with the tying kit i bought works great. It's not the best vise but it does what I need it to do. My son has one of those tying tool and vise kits, cost around $25, he does great tying flies on that.

It is a foot in the door, damon. It will work until your skills progress enough you realize you want a better one, as Flybum said. I started with a similar set up. Mine was the Orvis starter box. I imagine the vises are the same.

Picked it up today try tying tonight...

The vise is nothing special but its beret than the nothing I had I guess, right?
