Trout parasites

Hooked Up
Text early this morning from (Chris) MrGumpFish for last minute fishing trip. Trolled Hagg lake for several hours and went 7-8 on trout all over 10". Threw everyone of them back because they were covered in parasites. Anyone know what the story is about these?

I remember seeing that on the Trout at Shasta growing up. Heck, I remember similar spots on our Springers a few years back in the Clackamas...

What's the lakes current temperature?

You know I didn't check the water temp.

Same kind of a thing going on in Detroit last year after the water warmed up.

Trout Parasites

From the ODFW page,
Copepod

Copepods are common in fish and found throughout Oregon. Usually there are few parasites present on fish and they go unnoticed, however occasionally they can become numerous and quite evident on gills, in the mouth and at the base of the fish’s fins. When present in extremely high numbers they can cause a fish health problem but this is rarely seen in the wild. The parasite poses no risk to humans or domestic animals.

Is it one of those white worms?

Very unappetizing for me.

We fished deeper hoping to get into some "clean" trout with no luck.

How long did it last before they were gone?
