Well. Talked to Greg, the boss at Marion Forks Hatchery on the Upper N. Santiam upstream fron Detroit Reservoir today. They control the Minto Dam Fish Trap and Counting System downstream below the reservoirs near Niagra Park. Asked about Coho counts at Minto. Had a very interesting conversation with Greg. He loves to fish, period.

Oopppps. Sorry. Uh..Nine total. First showed up a week or so ago. Five fresh today, bucks dark leakin' milk the few ladies suprisingly bright. This means they could be anywhere in the N. Santiam. Greg said he's heard reports of Coho in the Little North Santiam, also called the Litlle North Fork. More on the way.

Did greg also tell you that they kill every single coho that enters the trap?...federal law dictates that they do...you can't even have the eggs to cure for bait or the carcasses for food banks. Plus the northfork is closed above the bridge at stayton. That would also mean the little northfork.
