data just posted, with 1 week left, just 38K of the 90K quota has been caught.
The Non-selective "Any Ocean Coho" season starts Aug31-Sept1, then is open each Fri-Sun after that until the quota is gone. I hope we get some quota rolled over to bump up the initial 9K, it sure would be nice to have the "Any Ocean Coho" open for maybe 3 weekends...
(FYI- in 2017, ODFW transferred 16% of the unused "Selective" quota to "Non-Selective", so if we have 50K of unused quota this year, applying that same ratio would mean 8K being added to the 9K we already have. Also from 2017, the quota of 7.9K lasted 6 days, with much of it caught during excellent ocean conditions over Labor Day weekend. This year, we are only open for weekend days, assuming 2K caught per weekend day, a quota of 17K gets us 8.5 days: 2 over Labor day weekend, 3 days each of the next two weekend takes us to 8 days, depending of course on ocean conditions, so not unreasonable to think we might get 3 weekends).
For people planning to fish coastal estuaries, each weekend the ocean is open for Any Coho (and especially if ocean conditions are good) means less boats fishing the estuary areas!
