Id suggest not fishing Cedar Creek during Coho season. This time of year, I think Gamies/Staters have more important things to do than giving out tickets for flossing hatchery Coho, hopping from hole to hole checkin leaders. Theres far more important game violations being committed up in the woods by hunters IMO. Sorry you had a poor experience.
Take away all the Coho flossers and dont let em fish again, ODFW would lose a ton of revenue. Take away all the poachers, and theres no more poachers.
That doesn't mean you shouldnt not want them to be there.
I thought you loved Cedar Creek Chris...
In my opinion, flossers can yank and wank all they want, as long as they are not keeping foul hooked fish, and not keeping any native fish. The more I fish for Coho around here, the more I think most, not all, but a good percentage that are caught drifting are flossed anyways. Whether intentional or not.
People intentionally snagging salmon is a whole nother thing. I think most snaggers are poachers anyways. Theyre the ones I could give two shakes about.
Cedar Creek is great. For Coho fishing. I've met good friends there, learned a lot from people fishing there, whether its what NOT to do, or what to do. I think more of what NOT to do. Caught some fish there and all, but it has its time and place in my "fishing rotation". There are spots below and above it that are just as productive, but less entertaining.
Have we agreed on anything since you joined the forum?
Why should a hatchery fish take priority over Elk, Deer, upland birds, or any other animal in season right now?
My opinion is hatchery fish are kind of expendable. Ya know, ODFW can plant Coho 'till the moon turns blue. can't say the same for Elk or any other animal.
Take away all the Coho flossers and dont let em fish again, ODFW would lose a ton of revenue. Take away all the poachers, and theres no more poachers. My vote is for poachers.
Didn't know there were that many disagreements? Are you mad cause I made fun of corkies?:lol::lol:
I'm not saying that game violations are less important than fish violations but I still don't think OSP should let snaggers run free and do what they want.
Who says your taking the fisherman away? I'm sure after just a few of them got tickets for snagging/flossing/keeping snagged fish that a LOT of them would learn and maybe start fishing the right way. I don't think they would QUIT fishing and NOT buy fishing licenses just from getting a ticket..
I just hate good pieces of water that get over taken by snaggers when legitimate fisherman could be harvesting fish legally. Makes it hard to find good spots to fish if you don't like fishing with the toothless crowds.
If it's just people fishing long leaders there then no it's not worth it.. but if there's a lot of SNAGGING going down, then ya it is worth a visit from an OSP officer.
If a Fish comes in Head First and is Kept, OSP Dosent Care. If it comes in Stomach First and you keep it. They will do something about it.
I heard they Hide in the Bushes on the Other Side with Binoculars and wacth you.
I have seen them on the Alsea in FULL CAMO hiding in the bushes! They have a tough job... props to them. I wish there were more game wardens instead of local po po that just want to write speeding tickets.

I must not be well typed enough to get my example across clearly. :think:And can I just have that little %&*#er rolling his eyes to be choked out and tossed under a TRI-MET?!Who says your taking the fisherman away? Quite a few of the members up here are missing one or more of thier front teeth man. Just stereo typical snagger meth head stuff?<insert stupid rolling eyes smilie here>I just hate good pieces of water that get over taken by snaggers when legitimate fisherman could be harvesting fish legally. I'll be damned. Something to be agreed uponIf it's just people fishing long leaders there then no it's not worth it.. but if there's a lot of SNAGGING going down, then ya it is worth a visit from an OSP officer.
