Found in the Minto Brown Slough off the Willamette in Salem this afternoon. It was about 80F outside for the third day straight, really muggy.

The only species I've ever caught out of there are Pumpkinseed and northern pikeminnow or sqawfish, whatever they are called!

Looks like a carp.

Cccaaaarrrrrrrrpppp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yup

Thanks everyone!

Nope, whatcha gawt rawt thar is the dreaded Minto Brown Frankenfish! :yikes: Been known to gobble up small doggies and whole icey chests full of brewskies. Beware!! :D

That's a mutation of the Japanese Tailwalker Koi strain trophy Carp, bred in the upper Descutes Trophy Carp Hatchery. I think a few were let out of their pens into the Deschutes by some vandals, where they crossed with some River suckers. They have been known crawl across dry land to ponds.

You guys don't know nuthin'. Those are them thar springer carps that everyone has been fishing for in the Willie and Big C :)

Wooooooooo CARP!

So carp is the official answer, I've been calling them carpet croakers! Thanks!
