I am a newbie - so, help me out.

Went there today for 4 hours - got two pikie minnows using worms on the bottom. Would have liked some catfish -any suggestions?? Thanks;:)

welcome to OFF. Where the heck is the Gilbert River?

Gilbert River is on Sauvie Island - near (opposite) Collins Beach. It is a nice dock with a boat Ramp

You should also try some of the lakes on the island like sturgeon lake, caught many catfish out of that lake.

Well. I know in the winter time there are masses of whitefish there, and perch (my first fish caught there), For catfish. I would use Chicken liver. even though you might still have a bigger chance of catching pikeminnow, (im good at fihsing for them, Need advice. pm me) You weill have a better chance of catching cats. There are also walleye there. Carp and sucker fish.

Thanks for the advice

No problem

Filet those pikeminnows and use it for bait! Catfish, sturgeon, and steelhead love it!

Shoot - next time I will thanks for the advice:)

noooo, Use peamouth and chiselmouth for bait, Pikeminnow are for money.
