Hi:

My wife and I have arrived in Sisters Ore. Nice scenic drive from the coast (Oregon is a beautiful place. Wondering what fishing opportunities are available? Going on to Bend in a few minutes. Hope somebody will give me some info. Private mail me if you like.

fly fishing or spinning rod? do you have a preference on species of fish? How far is the most doyou want to travel?

Thanks for answering. I have several fly fishing setups with me. 1 hour driving time from from Bend? Browns, Brooks, rainbow and maybe Bull trout. Steelhead? I am a river guy.

Metolius is a place people like to go, turn off to camp sherman. it is west of sisters on hwy 20. also a pretty place! deschutes is always for fly fishing which I dont know much of but i am sure someone here can give you a heads up where to go. Good luck above all have fun!

There is a lot of choices. As far as rivers go: If you want numbers you can check out the crooked river. The metolius river is gorgeous, but can be tuff to fish at times. The deschutes can also be good, and has a variety of fishing depending on the section

I just read an ODFW press release, regarding the Crooked (below Bowman Dam). You'll want to fish it TODAY or tomorrow. Because all of next week, ODFW will be shocking the fish to do a count. So, they suggest not fishing it during next week. They won't actively bite, after they get shocked, examined, and tagged. They are also requesting, that tagged fish be released.

However, there are over 1,200 redband trout per mile--PLUS over 3,000 whitefish per mile, on the Crooked. Huge numbers!

Here is the press release:
