A Morning Coho Charter

My Father-n-law treated my son Cody and I to a coho charter trip today. It went like this: Two hour drive to Illwaco then left port at 5:30am. Half hour boat ride and then lines in the water by 6. Boat limits by 8:30 with 28 legals on board. Back in port 9am. Back home 11:30.

The bite was simply Hot! It was nearly a never ending flurry of activity with bent rods, waving nets, and flopping salmon littering the deck. Half of the catch consisted of shaker Kings and native Silvers and we still limited in 2 1/2 hours! You couldn't take your eyes off the rod tip for a moment. It was just crazy out there. Anyway, here's a picture of my son and I with half of our catch, him with his chinook and me with a coho. They cut markings on the fish to identify who's fish belongs to who and mine was 'No Nose 1'

Sounds like a great day, glad you hit it right. When you run into fish like that it's a real blast, and with family along to share the fun. Can't beat it. Thanks for the post.
