Keep or catch & release sea run cutties?

Short version: Nothing to report. Long version: Got up at 5am on Saturday morning, made some breakfast and headed out with the fly rod and gear at 5:45am. Drove South of Seaside back to Hwy 26 and drove a few miles East to Kootchy County Park. Walked out to the river and first impression — not...

Keep or catch & release sea run cutties?

Src Src Have any of you ever fished the Necanicum? The Mrs. wants to visit her grandmother in Seaside over the weekend and was thinking fishing the Necanicum for the SRC (I'll be nice, no barbs and catch-and-release), and maybe way up higher for trout. Should I bother with the Necanicum, or...

Fly fishing line setup. Fly line to leader, etc?

Thanks Randy and others for the great info! The loop-to-loop is looking good, but I'm a little concerned about the integrity of my perfection loop in the thick end of my leader. Seems like it slides a bit. Thanks again and I'll be sure to post any pics I get from my weekend trip! Cheers, Ben

Forgot to mention.... Do you recommend the loop-to-loop connection as I tied it, or do you most of you tie a nail knot to connect your fly line and leader? Thanks!

Fly fishing line setup. Fly line to leader, etc?

Getting ready to head out for the weekend and as a beginner, I'm still a bit shaky on my line-to-line connections and the best knots for accomplishing it. 1) Fly line to leader. My main fly line came with a pre-made loop in the end. For now I've tied a perfection loop (might be less than...

7'0" Shakespeare Synergy Rod Med. Action --- Strong enough for Coho?

Exactly Exactly Thanks for the reply Mike. Yes, I went last weekend with my wife's Grandfather, he had all his equipment so I didn't need any of mine. But yes, I have 10 Lb. test on there, and plan on just throwing spinners, maybe trying to fish a Kwikfish too. Just want to make sure my rod...
