Are you talking about the ODFW site out there on Buena Vista Road??? It has a locked gate and a dirt parking lot with an ODFW sign about a wilammette spillway?? I've heard the same thing. Caught a number of fish from applegate last summer that had the same thing. I read somewhere from ODFW they are safe to eat. But they are still gross to look at in my opinion.

My advice: Get a pontoon or small boat in the water so you can reach the 3rd pond which fishes the best but is most limited by access. Still pre-spawn now, stick to the plactics, finesse baits, drop shot rigs.

I'll probably be heading to either the HW 34 bridge hole, clemmons park/tree farm, or down by Mill Creek depending on how the crowds are. I have not fished the Alsea in too many low water situations though, so I'll probably be thrown a bit off my usual plans.

I'll be out there in the morning for my Friday morning fishing. The alsea has been rough on me lately, hopefully tomorrow will be a little more productive! What time is first light these days? Seems I showed up a bit late last week.

Talked to my buddy back home (GP), they went out and hooked into 6 fish between the 3 of them. Eggs and a pink corkie. Funny though, he said they did not get a bite all morning then the fishing got hot around 1 or so. Not sure where they were exactly but on the rogue in the Merlin area.
