That is a small river for drift boats. It's possible to do but trees blow down often and it drains out really fast. NFN is hard to take a drift boat down too and have only seen rafts go down it(from the hatchery).
Haven't started tying yet but will probably do it on Friday. Tied two new patterns and fished jigs for about 20 minutes last time I was out and caught 2 chums on the same pattern. Gonna go out tomorrow and see if I can get into some steelhead on the coast with that pattern and may tie them for...
I actually have both as my primary rods for steelhead and coho. I got the Fetha Styx Chrome 9'6" 8-12lb setup for my float rod and has worked great for jigs and bait. Even caught a springer on it when I was fishing for summers. I didn't know about them and won this rod in a raffle at the...
I have the same katchkooler but it would be awkward to take on a trail as it's too bulky. It's great for the car and reduces a lot of space when compared to a cooler. I used to have an old mesh potato sack that was perfect but the wife threw it away thinking it was garbage. I have just been...
It's coho season on the Sandy that brings out these knuckleheads. Same with Eagle Creek. They stack up and are easy to snag or floss. The same snaggers will come out like lemmings every year to the same spots and do the same thing and leave more garbage without a care. Come winter steelhead...
Nice fish Mike. Wish I could get out there with you some more but been too busy this spring. The fish that hit spinners are usually the most aggressive and fun. Keep it up.
It was good to meet up and fish. I was still surprised not a single one was taken on the bank all morning. At least some boats got them and know the fish are around. My hit was pretty solid and the prawn was gone and even had a trailing hook setup it just didn't stick.
Well I messed up. Showed interest in the original thread but slacked on checking this one and haven't been on the forum since. It would be interesting to see what you guys do. This year I have been doing rabbit fur jigs and am starting to prefer them over marabou.
When first fishing the Clackamas and Sandy rivers I used to get really mad about the lowholing and such. Then it seemed to happen all the time so I got used to fishing around them. Most of the time I just go hike on to find a better spot or a new spot and avoid the hatchery holes. I also don't...
I saw one last year all the way up at Riverside park. Just checking the river right after sunrise and it was blown out but he was cruising close to the bank by the boat ramp.
