    George Rogers Park Fishing

Hey, Luis! You don't state your location in your personal profile so here's a guess but are you, by chance, referring to Roger's Landing in Newberg? Not a bass hotspot and pretty well trafficked but nuch better fishing than at brother George's Park. <G>

    Siletz River advice/help

The NOAA's best guess which indicates the Siletz (at the town of Siletz) dropping to sixish feet and Sunday is definitely the day. I don't fish that river enough to know how that equates to flows at Moonshine but would love to hear the story (with pics, please) about your kids hooking their...

    Devils Lake Fishing

Hey, outdoorgb - It's great to see some bass activity at Devils Lake! After the ODFW planted Asian (grass) carp to ameliorate out-of-control weeds and those voracious, aquatic vegetarian fishes all but eliminated nearly all the weeds previously used by bass fry to hide from predators (including...

    Spinners and spoons on braid

I do the same thing. Nail knot? Teflon to prevent slippage. New to me but if it works, great. I'll bet Dupont will be adding that usage to it's sales literature! :)

    Spinners and spoons on braid

Agreed. And regarding the suggestion to buy a different rod to replace my beloved Loomis HS9000 GLX, the one inscribed with my name as well as 'SailCat' by the manufacturer (Gary might have done this himself, ya never know), that is at the top of my list of things that ain't gonna happen.

    Spinners and spoons on braid

Yer right, of course, not that I can quite recall who it was but definitely an OFF member. Well almost for sure. :D Yeah, some of the 'guys I know are pretty good angler-dudes. You'll get 'em next time. I still don't 'get' bobber doggin'

    Spinners and spoons on braid

I thought you spood fed 'em, Dr. T. Was that not you who tried to advise me regarding spoon fishing while I argued that in my 205,7 years of spinner fishing, yada, yada .... But seriously, didn't we have that conversation? If not, you'll have to forgive me as I'm an old guy, subject to lapses of...

    Spinners and spoons on braid

What, no like button. OK. I'll do it the old fashioned way: I like this, hobster! And sorry if I flogged a deceased equine critter. ;)

    Spinners and spoons on braid

Absolutely, FaF! I wouldn't float fish any other way and have 80-pound braid loaded on my Chinook bobber (spinning) reel. I can see the advantage with Twichin' Jigs as well although I have yet to try them. With the gear I use to fish spinners (per the OP's question), It's too unforgiving. It may...

    Spinners and spoons on braid

So, get comfortable and grab a cup of coffee'cause this is gonna be long-winded. Or skip to the next post if you're no in the mood for story time. I had a friend I'll call Bill ('cause that was his name) with whom I decided to go into busuness despite all those stories recommending otherwise as...

    Siltcoos camera appreciated

I believe Jefferson Airplane might have used the phrase originally as "he's my plastic, fantastic lover." Although I have no idea to what Gracie Slick might have been referring ....

    Winter steelhead

That's what I though. In this In this part of the country, we call those kiddie but reels spincast and what you have a spinning reel. 'Sounds like you're good to go. Tight lines!

    A question of preference

I've always fished early season coastal tidewater fall Chinook with shrimp, a "sandwich" mid-season and the Giant Glob o' Eggs later. Have I caught a lot of Chinook this way? Not really, but I've landed a few. In a similar vein, the best bobber 'n' bait guy I know catches numbers of fall fish...

    Winter steelhead

Hey, chinookless, before you go shopping for a new outfit and just to be certain there's not a regional terminology distinction to be made here, does your reel have a button on the back or a bail on the front?

    Rock fish

I didn't see it mentioned but the green or blue flesh of lings (and that of similarly-hued kelp greenling) turns pure white when cooked. As Jeanna mentioned, there is no difference in taste which is excellent. I have heard of a steelheaders trading one of his fish for a fresh caught ling. Yeah...
