    Rivers McKenzie River Fishing Reports

Saturday early afternoon I landed this Steelhead on the Mckenzie below Harvest Lane. As you can imagine I was quite surprised. With only 133 summers over the falls, it's like peeling 1 of maybe 20 fish out of there.

    Wow, what a surprise!!!

According to the numbers I'm guessing I caught 1 of 20 maybe Steelhead even in the river right now

    Wow, what a surprise!!!

I literally just picked her up about an hour and a half two hours ago swinging a sculpin pattern on the McKenzie river about 400 yards or so below the boat ramp at Harvest Lane.

Looking for fishin buddys on Santiam

I have only fished the N. Santiam a handful of times. Around Stayton bridge and also Hess RD. I'm swinging flies,I love the North and wouldn't mind getting out and swinging with some people

    S. Santiam

troutdude for whatever reason it rotated the photo. It's kind of hard to see either way, it's definitely a native fish though. I was mainly out on the water to get some casting in. I had developed an open loop I was attempting to tighten up. I've never been a great caster, I'm only good to...

    S. Santiam

Thanks Brandon, I've caught native trout on the North only Cutthroat on the South until the other day and I'm a terrible fly fisherman I live only about 40 minutes from the Mckenzie and never fished it nor the Willamette

    S. Santiam

First off let me say, I typically won't pull a fish out of water if I plan on releasing it. I was by myself and had to snap a photo of this guy. Took me by surprise, I have always been under the assumption that the S. Santiam doesn't have any native Rainbows in it. First I thought I was hooked...

Florida fisherman coming to Oregon. I want to fish!!

I don't quite understand the Halibut season fully having only fished for them a couple times. I do know the season is tricky because it goes off of total weight of all halibut caught, it seems sometime in June the season closes while they tally up the weight and then reopen it. As for salmon...

    Newbie to steelhead fishing

My work schedule is a bit odd these days working Wed - Sat. That being said I feel very confident in you being able to walk down to Deadline it's maybe a 200' walk from where we Park, Wiley Cr depending on where we go is a couple hundred yards both easy walking. Right now it's a bit early for...

    Newbie to steelhead fishing

I consider the south Santiam my home water ( near Sweet Home) that is. I've floated and fished the river a handful of times from a drift boat and I have just floated it a few times with my pontoon boat. The main problem you're going to find in a pontoon boat floating from let's say Wiley Creek...

    Just entered the spey game

Hey Paul, Yes I sure we'll run into one another. Just the other day I was going over in my head places to swing on the South. I'll probably be breaking out the pontoon boat this year to get to more water that's better for swinging flies. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
