Nice job. What a way to take something off of your bucket list. With a pig.

    The pioneer license

My mother just got her Pioneer license. I'm wondering what else she needs to be able to fish for steelhead. I think she needs a harvest tag also but i'm not sure. The office is closed now so I thought I would ask here.

    Maupin area fishing

My parents just bought a house in Maupin for retirement and family get togethers. I have been reading about the outstanding fishing. When I went to ODFW site to check the regulations I noticed that it states: "No angling from a floating device. " Does this mean that I can't fish from my drift...

    Braided line

I read an article that said most braid lasts about 3 years with care and if you reverse it onto another spool then you could get another 3 years. I always figure better safe than sorry. I don't want to be the one that loses a trophy fish because I was too cheap to replace my line when it gets...

    A drift boat question

I am looking for a drift boat. I sold my lake boat and have started actively looking. I have questions. What is the purpose of a "pizza oven" on the front of the boat? I've seen them listed on some and am curious if they serve a purpose. If you tell me they're for keeping your pizza warm, I will...

    Dicroic lures...

those are fused glass? My mom makes and sells fused glass items. I never even thought about lures. I guess it's times to get involved with my mom's hobby. :thumb:

    McKenzie river fishing methods

I have to agree with Jeanna. I have my best luck swinging a copper or brass colored Thomas. The trout love them and I've hooked a steelhead with the same lure. The half brass and half red Lil Cleo works pretty well also. Just remember, rubber is considered bait so no rubber worms, egg clusters...

    Battle of the baitcasters

I'm looking to purchase a decent, but not wallet killing, baitcasting reel. I'm kind of stuck between the Shimano Curado, Pflueger Patriarch, or Abu Garcia Revo. All three are around the same price range. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    2 Rivers, one fish

Yesterday I decided to take my pontoon out for a spin on the Willamette. I had my wife drop me off at the Beltline bridge and floated the Willamette to the Marshall Island boat ramp. It's a fairly long trip if you really put the time in at the various fishy spots. I had my steelhead baitcaster...

    Smoked trout part II

That looks and sounds so good. I got a smoker for my birthday this year and of course I haven't caught a single salmon or steelhead to try out. I've done a lot of McKenzie trout in it, but I usually just smoke them without brining.

    Steelhead in the Willamette

Some people have had good luck fishing below the bridge. One person caught a 30lb salmon below the bridge last year just sitting there plunking.

    Pontoon drift 6/5 or 6/6

First thing you need is a PFD. I bought a self inflating one and feel a lot safer. I've got a 12 lb. pyramid anchor and it works great. You might want to invest in a pair of float fins. A friend of mine turned me onto them. They allow to you manuver while both hands are free and you can back...
