    Noob: Hagg question

You’re right. A lot cheaper to make my own. And it doesn’t look too terribly complicated. I’ve been reading up on it some. And I think I’ve got the general idea. I’m putting clear 6lb mono on my reel. And I expect to use the same stuff to build my rigs. The consequences for imperfection are a...

    Noob: Hagg question

Hey, thanks for the ‘How to”! It’s tempting to buy everything- including a rod holder. I need to remember I gotta haul all this crap around.

    Noob: Hagg question

Thank you for the help getting started @portlandrain and @305to503fishermen. I’m going to buy a handful of prefab Carolina rigs that agree with your general specifications somewhere. And I’ll use these and instructional YouTube video to figure out how to make my own. I’ll use the Powerbait and...

    Noob: Hagg question

Hi! I’m in Portland. Have limited fishing experience. And zero experience in Oregon. I have a 6’6 medium Ugly GX2 and an empty Pfluger President 30 spinner. Newbie: All-round rod/reel?

Well, I’d buy an Ugly Elite 6’6” Medium if I could find one. Seems they’ll be unavailable until October. I like the great reviews. And I need that good price. So I guess I’ll hang on.

    Newbie: All-round rod/reel?

Hi BB. Thanks for the input. When you write “those rods have a sensitive tip” are you referring to my Berkley or your Uglystick? Ugly must be the way to go. Everyone’s got one it seems. And it’s kind hard find a dealer that has one in stock

    Newbie: All-round rod/reel?

Well, I figured. I’ll stay tuned in here for additional opinions. But I expect I’ll put that steelhead rod back in the closet and buy a new rod/reel. Thanks for the advice TroutDude. And thanks to management for moving my first post to the right forum.

    Newbie: All-round rod/reel?

Hi- Newbie here. Interested in both trout and salmon shore fishing. And I have an 8’6” Berkley Air IM7 Steelhead/Salmon graphite rod that I bought years ago and put in the closet unused. Now wondering if this rod is too long or otherwise inappropriate for trout. Also hoping to find one...
