Ok, thanks. I just didn't know that the bottom can cause the bobber to go below the water line. I thought that the only time the bobber go below is when there is a fish.

Do you know where to bank fish on the Nestucca? Are Bob Straub State Park, or Nestucca Bay Wildlife Refuge good spots?

Well, I am in Portland. I am only able to do bank fishing, I have read that there are some spots on the Alsea and Siuslaw rivers.
