Hey Troutdude, where is the parking for the Hoover Dock? The only day use we found was the Dam, and Mongold. Where do we need to turn off for Hoover dock?
Well we got skunked but in doing some research after the fact we never made it to the correct spot. It looks like Hoover Dock is the place to be. Where would I park to access this dock the next time I am out there?

Looks like the wife and kiddo want to get out today so we are off to detroit lake in hopes that with having 10000 trout stocked sometime last week that the fishing will treat us well.
Faraday was a bust on Friday so here's to hoping we don't get a repeat of that.

Are you talking about the river that runs underneath the bridge you need towalk across to get to Faraday? I was looking for access today just to see if there were any trout in some of the rock breaks and whatnot but didn't see any convienient way down there.
Went to Faraday today from 7-10:30 and threw out ever lure I have, without so much as a nibble. Wife fished Powerbait and had no luck either. In talking to the other 20 or so people we saw with poles in the water not a single one had caught anything.
So yeah, if your planning on Faraday this...
I can only speak for myself but the pole I am doing this on is a 5' UL Ugly Stick thatis spooled with 4lb. So no need for a leader. If I was doing it on my larger pole I would probably do like you asked about and do a small swivel, then 2' of leader or so, then a snap swivel and then the lure.
Looks like an awesome day out. I have a 2.5 year old daughter and we are going to see how she does at the lake for the first time this weekend. Hopefully in a few years she will be able to bring in her own haul like your daughter did!
So after getting back from our trip and replacing my Field and Stream POS that snapped that day with a 6'6" Ugly Stick we decided that fishing with "Bear's" ultra light rig that was loaned to us for the day was a whole lot of fun so we went back and bought two more rods (one for me one for her)...
We were there from 6:30 til 8 or so. Walked around the lake and tried a few spots. The only person I recall seeing that might be a fishinmomma was a lady on the dock with her daughter. I was there with the wife and the little girl kicking around a pink soccer ball.
I kinda had a feeling that might be the case. So when is the lake at its best? In looking at the stocking schedule is it more of a January to April sort of place?
I went and checked out Commonwealth Lake this afternoon since I live about 10 minutes away from it. My plan was to just cast and retrieve some spinners for awhile and hope to get a few catch and releases, what I got was weeds, lots and lots of weeds.

Hey everyone, just curious if you guys only tie your spinners and such directly to your line or if you use any sort of a swivel.
I bought a few of the different lures that are well liked in the lures thread and noticed that the Bang Tails seem to have a built in swivel and the Rooster Tails do...
