Opinions wanted, not a thread for huggy lovey lets get along crap

If you want to outlaw foam on dries then you've never tried a chubby chernobyl! haha, kidding aside, I don't think there should be anything changed in the current regs for fly-only water. ^And split shot is already illegal.

    Orvis hydros reels

I've held one at the Orvis store. Seemed like a solid reel for the $. Both that and the Access are the best reels in terms of value.

    Flies on a spinning rod

Yes, it is in fact illegal to use spinning gear in fly-only area's. Take a look at page 8 in reg's, it'll answer a lot of questions about the topic. Good luck and be legal! Fly Angling : Angling with a fly rod, fly reel, (no spinning or fixed spool reel(s)), floating or sinking fly line, leader...

    Flies on a spinning rod

I've used this method back when I was kid. It works, no question, but can spook fish with the bobber disturbance (especially the non-adi fin clipped type) Great way for a newbie to ease into fly, just make sure you don't use it on any fly fishing only waters, it's illegal.

    Harriet Lake Fishing Reports

I was at Harriet lake Sunday afternoon as well testing out the new 'toon. Fishing was fairly steady, had good luck trolling flies around all afternoon. Caught my limit of troph's before leaving plus a lot of little guys. LOTS of people there as I'm sure it gets every year on labor day weekend. I...

Fall fishing in the Sisters area?

I too, am displaying one of those rivers beauties! Raincatcher- The place is gorgeous as mentioned. However, its not the most fishing friendly of rivers if your new to fly. Definitely need waders. Have fun with whatever you decide. Tree creeks ain't bad either!

Questions on quality/durability of fly lines

Definitely don't skimp on the reel. Check out the Echo Ion, probably the best bang for your buck. And at $79.99, you can't get much more affordable than that for a quality reel.

    A new spot to fish????

Couldnt have said it any better than that. However, having said that, it really does pay to have a nice rod and reel w/ quality fly line. It is expensive, but its worth it if you want to be a successful fly fisher.

    A new spot to fish????

Head as far down from bridge 99 as you can. Like atleast a mile. Lots of water that hardly ever gets fished.
