    Wilson River 6/4

I usually take a garbage bag with me but forgot to throw one in with my gear this last time out.

    Wilson River 6/4

It was a ton of beer cans, spinner packages, bait containers and such. I enjoy having a beer or two while fishing but damn people, pick up after yourselves. On the plus side, i picked up about 10 floats and 4 nice spinners that must have been lost by steelheaders when the river was higer.

    Wilson River 6/4

Drove out to the Wilson on Saturday morning to chase some cutts but got skunked. First time it has happened to me on that river. I hit the water around 6. The river seemed to be in perfect shape. Nice flows and as clear as can be. Bugs were everywhere. Not only did I not catch a fish but I...

    gales creek

I've always thought that Gales Creek looked awfully fishy as I passed it on my way out to the Wilson but I have never stopped to wet a line. How is the access? I haven't explored any of the roads off of 6 to check it out, but it looks to be primarily private property. Am I wrong?

    Wilson report 5/28

Thanks for the report. I'm think I'm going to head to the Wilson some time next week if the weather isn't terrible.

    Light/Ultralight Gear

I have two of those rods and I like them. They are great for smallies and also for tossing 1/16 oz roostertails for trout.

    Willy report 5/6/11

Well, my first tip is to fish SLOW. Toss some tubes, senkos and craw imitations. When the weather warms throw some spinners and top water lures and work a bit quicker. I generally use lighter or more natural colors for clear water and darker colors when the water is murky. That said, the water...

    Light/Ultralight Gear

Ultralight is the way to go. Fighting a solid bass with 2lb test can't be beat. I do end up losing quite a bit of tackle do to snags and the occasional extra feisty fish though.

    Willy report 5/6/11

I went out three times this past week and had similiar results. The water is clearing up but I would like to see it drop a bit. I seem to catch more fish when the water is lower than the current levels. Small, bright and SLOW got the fish on. Still have not seen any banged up tail fins.

It's not a bass but holy cow!

That is a monster bluegill. I'd like to get into a school of those with the ultralight.

    Willy report 5/6/11

Fished the Willy near the Sellwood bridge for a few hours in the rain. The water has dropped a bit but is still pretty murky. Got 7 or 8 fish over 2 1/2 hours. All of them around 2 pounds. I didn't notice any damage to any of the fish on their tail fins so I don't think the spawn has gotten...

    Heading to the McKenzie 5/3/11-5/4/11

Enjoyed a couple of great days down on the McKenzie. Tuesday afternoon I met up with steelyfishn and did about a 7 hr float in his drift boat. I didn't want to foul hook my host, so I stuck to fishing little spinners and spoons on my ultralight and put the fly rod away. We got a good number of...

    Heading to the McKenzie 5/3/11-5/4/11

Thanks Jeanna. Running clear is what I was hoping to hear. I'm hitting the road as soon as I get off of work in the AM.
