They cut like a hot knife through butter. I've got a tool caddy in the DB so storage wasn't a problem. I ended up going back to using lead pliers, poking a hole and using a snap swivel, unlocked. Just seemed easier. I carry various lengths of lead depending on the water.

It's one more thing to carry but dog nail clippers make smooth cut without crushing the lead.

Summer steelhead are some of the best fighting fish. Like Tony said, "the tug is the drug".

I'd add that I like a faster action tip for mending the line when float fishing. As stated above you can't go wrong with either one.

Fattie, the few times I've been I used my 10'6" #10-20 casting rod with an old Revo S reel. Worked just fine OFF the beach and jetty. Fish were caught.
