    Rivers are dropping

C_Run is correct. plenty of turn outs and plenty of good deep pool for the chinook to spawn in. i was fishing up the Yachats river a bit, probably 5 miles in. Ill be there friday again hope to limit quick again!

    Siuslaw / salmon questions

Well ill say good luck since chinook wont take a fly, if i understand correctly, since their only goal up river is to spawn so they dont eat natural food sources while spawning. That why bobber and eggs are so commonly used in the area. I know that Cabella's has egg patterns to purchase for use...

    Rivers are dropping

I check multiple rivers from florence on up. The best conditioned river i found was the yachats river, oddly enough. Sat into one nice hole and had 2 take down before landing a 27" nook within 10 minutes of arrival. It was fairly dark (the meat was still perfect despite this). Good fight never...

    Jumpin jack flash.

Ill take a wild guess with assuming this was at Siltcoos as opposed to Tahkenitch? nice jack!

    Rivers are dropping

Ill be hitting siltcoos or siuslaw tomorrow. Siuslaw is doubtful as it has yet to crest for the last time in mapleton, still above 9 feet. Siltcoos looks good though. out of curiosity where are good places to fish the wilson river from the bank for chinook? Ive never fished there and may put...

    Siltcoos Lake

Tried fishing the river for about 4hours this morning, not a single hit nor did I see any rolls or jumps in the river. The dam was still open at that time. I ventured down the beach to see what the river looked like there. Strong flow and witnessed two big fish flop just above the tide line! I...

    Siuslaw River fishing

With the coming storms that will surely blow the river out through at least Monday-Tuesday. When would be prime time to start fishing again for the next wave of fish to come up above tide water? I'm relatively new to chinook fishing in rivers above tide water and wasn't positive if fishing would...

    Siuslaw River fishing

Yesterday was indeed a good day, however I did much better today in terms of chinook (didn't keep any, however). Caught and landed three, all bucks, all in full spawn form(which is why I released them). The third one I caught actually jumped out of my net that was still half in water while...

    Siuslaw River fishing

Yes that would be bobber and eggs

    Long Tom confluence

Yes i meant to state that, rather than just this stretch. Falls up to harrisburgs' highway 99 bridge. My bad!

    Siltcoos Lake

Yeah, i stopped in at tyee at 7 am, presuming the water would still be moving, and it was not. An informed gentleman told me he spoke to someone who told him they closed it back down last night to remove debris from the dam, and wouldnt reopen it until the lake level was back up to 8 feet again...

    Chinook happy dance

Purty fish! Good detailed report, as always.

    Siuslaw River fishing

Yes lots of coho, indeed. even up in the main river. I fished for about four hours this morning and managed to land 2 nearly identical coho above brickerville(?) in the main water above tide water. I got goosed with chinook, but two people on either side of me each caught one chinook, and...

    Siltcoos Lake

As of noon today the dam was open! I got to the river above the dam around 1 and was met with a flowing river and about 7 other anglers. I chose not to fish as I did not see any fish rolling and all the anglers reported no bites yet. I presume it will take a day or two to pump some fish up from...

    Siuslaw River fishing

i went out a few weeks ago with a guide on the slaw and the Coho catch outweighed the chinook by a bit. i guess thats been typical with cut plug trolling this year. Ill be taking my chances in the flowing portion of the siuslaw this morning above mapleton, to see if this last burst of rain was...
