    Bass/catfish fishing in a pond

I don't know much about catfish except throw out a bait hook with a worm or bits of chicken or anything smelly, let it sit on the bottom, every once in a while pull up on the rod and see if there's any resistance, if there is, set the hoo, that's how we did it at some ponds down south. I love...

Favorite reels for float fishing? Level wind vs. spin?

I use a pflueger supreme 40 on my St. Croix wind river 9'6 ML. Love the reel for balance and a heavy drag that I can rely on for steelhead or salmon.

Favorite streams, creeks for trout fishing in southern Oregon?

Good idea about squaw lakes Shane. I never think of squaw lakes as trout lakes since I've only fished for smallmouths there. I haven't fished squaw in a while, but I remember going as a youngin' and catching some very nice smallies out them.

Want to go carpin' with the fly rod.

Thanks for the info Montana, I live on a pond that has a lot of big carp in it, but as for sight fishing, it's impossible due to water color. I have seen some big carp and bass surge out of the water after some big dragon flies.

Want to go carpin' with the fly rod.

Really want to catch some carp on the fly rod, just not sure where to go around here in Eugene. Any tips and suggestions on where to go and what flies to use. I've tied some flies that look like berries, corn, and then some bug patterns. I've also tied some hair rig style flies. Thanks guys!

Favorite streams, creeks for trout fishing in southern Oregon?

Are you flyfishing, bait or tackle. I have a great spot for flyfishing. I don't tell many people because hardly anyone knows of it, or decides not to drive very far. PM me if you want

    Headed there in June...any advice?

If you're fly fishing, a size 12 black or brown beaded wet fly, sinking line and leader, make short casts and have it sink to the bottom, then bring it up, 4 inches at a time, and stop for 5 seconds or so, then continue the ascent. Lots of light bites, so keep the tension tight to feel those bites.

    Rogue River help

Valley of the Rogue Park is a nice place to spey fish. Whether your swinging flies or nymphing. I fish upstream from the ramp to the I-5 bridge. There is a nice ledge to nymph along. I was fishing there last week and hooked a couple fish there on a big copper swan and a egg pattern dropper. The...
