Steve had to work the Home Show till noon, but very shortly after, there he was backing up to the boat, we launched at the marina at a little after 1:00 and got our stuff in real quick. Steve set up the planer boards started letting them out, while I was getting my poles ready. There was a lot...

    Lost Creek Lake again

rainy day at the lake rainy day at the lake Steve arrived at my house in a downpour, at 5:57 and we decided we could find a better day to go fishing. Then about 8:10 I woke up to sunshine and clearing skies, called Steve and we were on again. Launched about 9:15 and met mike b at the ramp. He...

    Parasites found on Trout

I can garuntee that the parasites are harmless! I have been catching and eating the rainbows at Lost Creek Lake ever since the dam was put in and the lake filled. It has to do with hatchery raised fish and stagnant water. If looking at them bothers you like it does me, get some stainless...

    Lost Creek Lake again

Report: Lost Creek Lake , October 22, 2010. We arrived at the launch a little early. It was really dark. So we took the bra off the front of the boat unhooked the strap, and slowly made our way down the ramp and launched in the dark. I lit the heater, and primed the trolling motor as Ron worked...

    Lost Creek Lake again

The Lake is FULL and usually you can go up past the Split ( South Fork/North Fork) in the North fork about 2 miles, but there is a point about 1 mile up where the water temperature changes drastically. it will change about 12 to 15 degrees, and I usually don't fish above the temp change. Last...

    Howard Prairie water level

Steve and I went to Howard again on Sunday morning. We launched at 0745, and only one trailer in the lot at Klum Landing. It was overcast (Low clouds or high fog) hid the sun till about 0930, then the sun came out and it was very nice. There were a few little breezes and by 1030 there was a wind...

    Howard Prairie water level

Just got home from Howard Prairie. We hit snow at m/m 8 and it was sticking on the road at m/m 11. This is at 0530. At the summit it was about 1 1/2 inches deep. As we descended the other side it turned to slush near the junction. We launched about 0615, and the parking lot at Klum Landing...

    why the worms

I just got home from fishing with Ron at Howard Prairie. It snowed the whole time we were there. On the way up, it was sticking and about 11/2 inches on the road. The snow plow hadn't even been there (about 0530) yet. Any way I sat right there in the boat, looked at a new package of the...

    why the worms

Get a (for lack of a better word) steel wool--really course, I wish I could remember the real name, and use it to de-scale the fish before you clean it, it also takes all the slime off too and you will have a better flavor when you cook it.

    Howard Prairie water level

Yesterday I had to take my boat to H/P to help move some new docks from Plumb Landing to an organization camp. I have never seen the water level so low, and of course it was snowing but I don't think that the snow storm is going to help. Maybe that is why ODFW isn't going to plant fish till...

    Gulp Alive Worms

I have been using them for about 3 years now and use them various ways. 1: To tip lures, small chunks1/2 to 3/4 inch 2: to single hooks on wedding rings, about 1/2 inch chunk with Gulp Maggots, or Gulp Corn. They seem to have more scent disbursement and for longer duration, than live worms...
