    A question about trolling rods

Not taking at as an argument at all. Great stuff . I think its all in the experience . Meaning , what you are willing to spend , maintain, deal with , to catch a fish . To me , as i get older , i want stuff simpler and easier . Both while fishing, the fight and at the end of the day . I have put...

    A question about trolling rods

    1. makes sense 2. the amount covered is negligible 3. I have seen and tried them. All that are advertised and recommended as modern trolling/mooching rods are definitely noodly to me . 3. Actually , the soft tip better take is not so true as with most trolling there is some drag pushing against...

    A question about trolling rods

I kinda figured it was a trendy thing . With the amount of seals around and how many fish are lost by them, one would think youd want more control.

    A question about trolling rods

I was wondering why a lot of the skilled boats and guides use 10 to 12 foot soft rods for trolling . I have watched several fights with fish in these boats both real time and on the tube and the fight/landing seems clumsy as all get up . I have used as light as medium heavy 8' 6" and this year in...

    Coho and/or chinook bank fishing?

Go to Florence and the bank spot on rhododendron drive . Cast crippled herring spoons or brads cut plug ( tuna filled ) with weight . You can get a good chromer there if you are willing to put in the time and casts . Go at the start of incoming tide and fish until outgoing starts .

    Willamette below Dexter

The water coming out of dexter is about 49 degrees as of yesterday . Way too cold . Ok for steelhead , cold for springers . Youd be better off near jasper ,springfield bridge or i5 bridge if you are bank bound . Oddly enough the McKenzie is lower and warmer than the willy at this time of year.

    Wilson River Fishing Reports

Wow ! Such a bountiful trip in what is looking to be a very slow season . I don't get up north much and have only made a couple of trips in my area to no avail .I can usually scratch out a fish or two in peak season. Word on the river is that its a very slow season . Almost unbelievable that...

Your favorite method/ technique for springers?

We didn't go today. I dont like my fish pre cooked . Its kind of a moot point from here on out. Found a better fishery. Anyone want to buy a bunch of spinners ? Half price ?

Your favorite method/ technique for springers?

The whole line thing is hilarious. Back when i started fishing with my dad 70's/80's we used 10lb maxima chameleon for pulling plugs ( hot shots ) and if we were on the umpqua or mack , hed go down to 8lb. I dont ever remember breaking off a springer or steelhead with him. We were in a boat btw...

Your favorite method/ technique for springers?

Im not keen on using braid for spinners. Even with a bumper. I have only hooked a couple on spinners over the years, but they slam it most of the time. You need some stretch. 10 lb maxima ultra green or 10lb Berkley xt . Straight to the swivel/spinner. Some may think you need more than 10lb for...

    Springer/summer fish Eugene area

Hit the Dam down to pengra this afternoon. Believe it or not we hit , and lost, another summer on a spinner. It was at the last chute/rapid before the first confluence hole where the river comes back together . It took a #3 brass blue fox. Awesome fight but line broke like someone cut it. Lots...

    Springer/summer fish Eugene area

We hit the willy last monday looking for springers , pengra to jasper. didn't see or touch one springer but much to our surprise a nice summer attacked my buddies spinner about 10 feet from the boat . It was a big bright buck but it had other plans. Ran under the boat and the line broke on the...
