Yeah , it's definitely different depending where you fish . They usually are not that easy to catch . In the end, it's just fun to catch something... we go out on the reservoir trolling for trout, (rowing) trolling spoons down 35-40 feet over 80-120' deep water ... when a 20-35lb carp hits that...

Yeah, they are also a pita ... but pickerel will hit a 12" rocky or crappie that you are trying to land. You cut the pickerel open and they have 8-10" trout, smallies, rocky's in their gut . Pickerel average 3-4 lbs where I fish and it's not uncommon to get a 5 or 6lb ... they are like pike ...

Here is why ... You having a good day fishing , then you see a bunch of huge ones in some flat , you take a few casts at them, it's a heck of a fight.
