    Fly noob here...

I wish you lived closer to me, I could show you how to go catching instead of going fishing. I am an angler, catch and release only. Trout should die of old age, just like people.

Cortland Fairplay reviews? Anyone have input?

For cleaning, dish washing liquid and warm water. I just unreel mine into the sink, let it set 15 minutes, wash it off, dry it and put a coat of Scientific Anglers line dressing on it, let it dry and run the line through a cotton cloth while putting it back on the reel. I have had some of my...

Cortland Fairplay reviews? Anyone have input?

I wash, dry, and dress my line every time I use it, it may look clean, but they really are. A dirty fly line will destroy itself in no time. A reel just holds your line, but your fly line is what you work with. A crummy line will give you crummy results.

    Leaders/Tippets..

Most of the ones I use are six feet long with a three to four foot tippet. I use Berkley Vanish fluorocarbon 4# most of the time, but have many that I use for dry fly fishing that are made of silk, you can pick that up at any good sewing store. I have used fly tying thread also and it works...

    Fly noob here...

No two people cast the same. My basics were taught to me by a pro a long time ago, his name was and still is, Joe Humphreys. Look him up on the youtube or just type his name into your search engine.

Cheap line is just that, cheap line. I use a Cortland 444 sylk #, 3, 4 and 5 wts. I'm not a knob. Get a good line dressing and clean and dress your line regularly.

    Leaders/Tippets..

Furled leaders, I make my own and would use nothing else. I never look at the price of the FC line I use so I don't know what they cost.

    Lost Lake found

You could just follow that truck around and have them fill your bucket. Take 10 or 12 of your kids with you, don't forget their buckets, wouldn't want them to miss out on your murderous rampage. After all, they are there for your killing pleasure.

If you allready hooked one I would suggest you do what you did to hook that one. Use a heavyer leader next time. Someone will take this reply wrong and send me a letter about my rudeness.
