    Rouge bait rig

So that is the rig those guys are using down there. Wish I'da seen this a couple weeks ago. Someone mentioned a heavy anchor...you'll want what I call the "popeye" style up there. A regular rocking chair doesn't cut it at all.

Coho in willie, esp at the Yamhill river

I think you see a lot of "interesting" methods because folks are trying to figure out this fishery, at least on the mid-willamette. It's only been the last couple of years that the numbers have garnered some attention. I have fished this area for a few years and have yet to see any kind of a...

What kind of trucks do You like to pull your fishing boat with

I pull my sled (9000lb) with a 2000, 7.3L diesel, F-350 dually. I get 17 empty and about 10 towing. It doesn't have the power of the newer rigs but it's reliable, paid for, and doesn't have all the emissions garbage on it. Oh and I love it. It's only got 125K so it has a lot of life left in...

Tuna...it's not just for breakfast anymore....

There are charters out of Hammond, Illwaco, Garibaldi, Depoe Bay, and Newport. Not sure how fun a puker is but if that is all you have I guess that is it. Good Luck.

    Rod and reel advice?

FWIW - I'm very happy with the Lamiglas CD70DR's. Hard to beat at the price and frankly they seem to be just about perfect. I'm also happy with the Diawa strikeforce 100 reels. The fast retrieve sure is nice. Anyway, I've got 2 trips under my belt and so far the equipment I've got seems to be...

    Newberg sturg.

Water is pretty warm. I have fished the area in the past but usually in the fall/winter. I know people that fish around the mouth of the Yamhill at times. With the numbers of spingers I might be inclined to try that instead. Once in a blue moon my wife and I will launch at Rogers and head...

    Coho slow at Yaquina

Typically guys will fish off the lighthouse this time of year for coho. I'm going to wait until August so I can hit the pile for butt's and coho. I'm jonesing for a salt fix though....it's been a while.

    Newberg sturg.

There are fish there. Find a hole and anchor above it. If the weather is nice there will be lots of water skiers and wakeboarders. Rogers Landing is one of the busiest ramps in the state. Go early and leave early unless you like that sort of thing. Good luck.

    Prawn spinners?

How about now? Sorry, I'm still trying to figure out how my photo gallery works. I can see it now.

    Prawn spinners?

Here is what I use. The wire keeps the prawn straight which is the way I prefer it. Run the wire up the tail and have it come out the head. I can troll or run this on anchor.

    Rod and reel advice?

Update - I picked up a couple of Lamiglas CG70DR's from Bi-mart for $50. Had to go to 3 different stores to get them tho. My local store had one and I've had one on order for 5 weeks and it still has not come in. For reels, I went with some small Diawa casting reels that are due in...

    McMinnville's Joe Dancer Park?

The slide occured on the 21st of May. The City is working with the appropriate agency's to at least stabilize the bank. Don't count on any improvements however since there is no budget for it.

Fishing for shad from a boat..

You can also use a small jet diver in lieu of the spreader/weight. I've used Shad darts from cabelas and they work well. Gold hooks are essential imo. Good luck.

What other fishing forums are you on?

I frequent a private fishing forum and now OFF. That is it. Once in while I look at ifish when buddies let me know when there is something funny to read when the "brain trust" is in full form. That is always good for a laugh. I was on ifish from the beginning. I was even a mod there for a...

    For my Salem/Keizer friends

Not only does the moss plug your gear but it shuts the bite off. It never used to be an issue until maybe 12 years ago or so. A word of advise about this fishery...if you are going to fish it, you need to start early. The counts at the falls don't matter, it only matter that there are fish...
