In that case, from Milwaukie, drive 30 minutes up the Clackamas and you've got a decent shot at steelhead as they are in the river right now.

Does that rule out the Deschutes for you? The lower parking area is about 2 hours due east from Portland. Great fishing though. The steelies and nook are there now.

I don't fish them, but Salem = Santiam, Eugene = McKenzie.
