I just recently got my first boat and i'm planning on taking her out on her first salmon trip(well first for me). I was just curious if anyone could help me out. I can't decide whether to fish the siletz or nestucca? Any reports? Since this is my first time fishing both rivers in the bay from a boat i was going to see if someone could help me with where and what techniques to use. I'm familiar with all techs of fishing but i just don't where to use them in the bay.

Thanks, hope to hear from someone soon

Never fished the Nestucca but the Siletz is fishing pretty good. My buddies inlaws have been catching em for the last few weeks now.

rig up plug cut herring with or without a flasher with a dropper weight set up. google all this for visuals. or youtube. then just follow the boats and troll around keeping the gear on the bottom. troll with the tide.

Fish tide water nestucca!! They are smashing the fish over there. You can go crabbing too. Good Luck. If you want to go to the columbia they are getting off wobblers around 42nd st. Look for all the boats and get in line. I have friends in both spots who have been doing very well. Spinners, wobblers, and herring.

Fish-N-Chips, -- and others! --

I am heading down to Neskowin next Thursday for 4 days with the wife and dog. From there, the Salmon river is about 15 min. south and the Nestucca is about 30 min. north!!! I have fished them both - just messing around not really prepared.

This trip I will be taking my road with the intention of getting in to some fish. ( I have hooked up one in the Nestucca on a blue fox.) I use my Loomis steelhead/salmon rod and my spinning real..... off the bank.

What would you suggest: location, tide direction, gear, leader, etc...

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
