Walleye fishing from shore near cellwood bridge

I have never done any walleye fishing but i am wanting to try it out, is it possible to catch them from shore? If i do catch one from near or upstream slightly from the cellwood bridge would it be safe to eat?

Are you referring to the Sellwood Bridge in Portland?

Personally, I won't eat any resident fish out of the Willy. There's just too much insecticides, pesticides, and other chemicals in that river for me. Transitory fish like Salmon and Steelhead yes; resident fish no.

Walleye that reside in upper trib's (that flow into the Willy) may be okay. As there are far less chemicals in those feeder streams. But if they remain in the Willy all year long; I personally stay away.

Me too. Maybe up near the head waters would be okay. Or it's tribs.
