steelhead in AB?

So i was out at ab a couple days ago and saw a good sized steel-head So i casted toward it with my bait and it took it to my surprise. Unfortunately it broke my line which was 2lb test. So my question is what should i use to fish for steelies. And where are some good places to go for them. Thanks in advance for the help.

use the forum search, there is plenty of info on AB and surrounding areas for steelhead....good luck bud

Yep, ABC does indeed get some surprise steelies from time to time. And 2 lb. line to him/her, was like the thread in their jammies. No surprise that it snapped your line.

I've gotten summers w/ 8 lb. line. But, I'd suggest at least 10 lb. (or larger) for a winter fish.

I have landed 3 steelies in there on 6# with my fly rod. If you keep one you need to tag it.

Oh yeah, I forgot about needing to ink your tag (which means that you need to HAVE a tag, to keep any).

You are also allowed to use 2 rods, in ABC (if you have a Two Rod License).
