Heading out to check out the Siuslaw up to Whittaker- anyone heard any news?

Give us a report! Went up there a couple of times last week and lost 1, was pretty slow. The river hit 12 feet at Mapleton and it's still at about 9.5 feet, i'd imagine its not in shape yet colorwise and still a wee bit too high. I'll bet its a zoo when it drops. At this point you''d know better than us - let us know.:)

Slow!!!!! Still pretty early for slaw. I along with a few others have gone out there a couple times and have got the skunk. there have been some caught from what I have heard but I think I will wait til January to head back out there. just too early to be consistent. this last little rain we had could have pushed some fish up river though....

Well me and 1nut fished it. The water was off color. Only about 10" of visibility. Atleast we gave it a shot lol.

Yeah I'm def. not surprised it is def still blown out at over 9 feet! The slaw will be muddy still at that height. I really don't like fishing it anything above 7.5feet.... 6-7.5 range is money! But like you said, at least you were out trying. better than staying at home... like I said, it takes time for it to be good that high up in the system. Personally, I will prob start trying out there again second week of January or so (when the zoo starts) ha ha. But like I have also said, they are catching them here and there so if you really wanted to go out, it might not be a total waste.... :)

High and muddy but beats a poke in the eye and getting out to practice is all good!

i like fishing the slaw best at 8-10'.I drift fish tight to the bank and dont deal with the crowds and catch plenty of fish.As long as whiticker is putting a lighter colored seam in the river its on at that hieght.

Yeah, i like drift fishing it around there too if the color is o.k. My buddy got his 1st ever right at the bank at about 10 ft. It was 9 ft. and dropping last night and i was gonna wake up check the levels and head out this morning if it was ok. Glad i slept in - she is rising rising rising! Might be a while before she's in shape.:(

I drove through yesterday and checked out Whiticker. Slaw was dirty but the creek was nice and clear. About 6 bankies working it.

Saw one old nook hanging out below the fish trap. I also checked out Siuslaw falls. Saw 4 coho jumping out of the water trying to get over, pretty cool!
