depends on current, wind etc.. if your in a flat calm pond you wouldnt relly drift with a 10lb anchor but anchoring in current is just gonna drag you down, most people kick with their feet in pontoon boats or use oars, if your fishing mostly calm lakes i wouldnt think you would need more than 10-15#
i have had float tubes and pontoon boats but none working right now, never get a cimmaron pontoon boat they are trash, if you are looking for a good pontoon boat check out creek company i had one a while back and the welds broke after a few years of use but it has put all my other toons to shame!

I use an 8 lb mushroom anchor on mine and it's fine on lakes. Now, on river's I don't know since I've never tried but if you're going river, you may want heavier.

For lakes you dont need much, a few pounds. For rivers I like to have two anchors. One on the front, one off the back. When you drop anchor from the back only you swing around. Drop one off the front and stabilize your water craft. I have a 10# pyramid on back and I believe the front is closer to 7-8#.
Good luck, lots of fun dialing it in!

I put a 10 lb dumbell from my house in my anchor net and it works just fine for lakes... never tried a river.

LOL rephrase "my cimmaron is trash" and its not harsh its my opinion and mine is better suited for the garbage than the water. The valves break and are not universal, the tubes are thin plastic that gets holes easily, and the seat is uncomfortable unless you like a metal bar mid back all day, the oar locks break out of place so i secured them on my own, and the oars bend and eventually wont clip not to mention the handles arent secured and slide off unless you glue them, the velcro on the back doesn't last very long and eventually you have to rely on zip ties to hold half the stuff on the cimmaron together, so I guess if all that is fine with you it is a perfectly suited vessel
but if that isn't gonna fly i would recommend a creek company.
