Overnight camping on Siuslaw or Lake Creek

Does anyone know where there is overnight camping this time of year on the Siuslaw/Lake Creek steelhead fishing areas. Have been traveling around Oregon steelheading and Iam totaly suprided how many campgrounds are just plain closed. Was going to head down that way for a few days but can't find an open campground in the area. TIA

The closest one to Mapleton is Archie Knowles campground, which is closed. You might need to try Florence, which isn't too far of a drive. This should help point you in the right direction.

Good luck!

There are no "improved" campsites along the river that are open this time of year, there are several places along stage coach rd. where you could camp. Also, there is a large gravel stock pile area just past Whittaker Creek camp ground where people often camp this time of year.

+1 on that gravel site plumb.

Thanks guys! (plumb2fish). I will look into the gravel site and boogie up stagecoach. That said a few have suggested just crashing in the casino parking lot in Florence. Problem is that can turn into a $80 dollar a night campsite.LOL!! Thanks again everyone, Iam working the rivers up the coast all the way to Forks, i will keep you guys posted.

you can go about a mile up Lake Creek just past the painted rock (you'll know it when you see it). Just around the corner from that is a big gravel area to the right. There is a refuse disposal site to the left. Drive back into the gravel and you will find some very nice flat area's to camp. I camped there several times last year for a couple 2 day fishing trips. No one will bother you back in there and you are off the road and out of site.
Enjoy.:D
