No more barbed flys for me

i was fly fishing yesterday and as i was casting i ended up hooking myself in my finger with one of my flys,, way down past the barb and out the other side now i will only use barb less flys from now on,,oooh and i also managed to hook me one nice coho too

OUCH!!! That must've really hurt...especially if it went through your fingernail!

Good god man! I hope you had the sense to sacrifice that fly and cut the barb off before you pulled it out.? From what i understand even if you have to push a hook the rest of the way through thats the way to go.
I like the barb-less a lot it just make the release so much easier. Especially with the little guys.

soooo, judging by location and direction that it was on a back-cast? keep er clean.. and barbless hooks are probably a good idea in general.

ya i cut the barb off and pulled it out ,., and yes the second i hooked that fish i forgot all about the hook in my finger
