May is a great time- the sooner after Iceout the better for bait fishing. You may want to wait a few weeks for fly fishing unitl they start moving around a little bit more. Just my experience though - others may have other opions.

You should be able to knock 'em dead! And, there are some big and fat Cranebows in there!!! (Crane Prairie stock, in Lava Lake)
