A few weeks ago, I tried a plain Mepps Anglia #5 as my hail Mary when nothing was interested in my skein. Immediately got a coho. I used the same lure Saturday and got a coho on my third cast.

On overcast, hazy, drizzly days...all black spinners is the ticket. Black blade, black body, black clevis, black shank tubing, etc. It's a tried and true spinner for Fall Nooks (maybe Ho's too); per Jed Davis's infamous book about spinner fishing in Oregon.

The first time that I read Jed's book--in the mid 80's--I built a handful of all black size 3's. Then hooked into 4 very nice Nooks, at Moonshine Park, on the Siletz! Got 1 to the bank, that I stole right out of his redd. He was an old soreback, so I let him go. The other 3 were on for a bit, but came unbuttoned. Still a FUN day!
