Hi new to fishing

hi im new to fishing on the Columbia and was wondering what would be the best lure to use for salmon/steel head? and any other tips thanks

Boat or bank? For now there's bunches of steel spread through out. #4 spin n glos with prawn tails will work perfect.

Anyone been out near the mouth of the Sandy in the last few weeks? I've been working up some courage to give the river a try again this year. I only get out there a couple times a year and I missed last year altogether. I heard on "Outdoor GPS" that the steelehead fishing has picked up closer to the dam but I'm not sure I want to brave the wind that far up the gorge. There have also been a few late summer nooks taken the last week or so.

Just curious.

For fall fish use a 5 foot drop and a 5 foot spread with brads wobblier.
