Foster and Quartzville this weekend

A couple friends and I are gonna chase trout at Foster this weekend and probably head up to Quartzville creek for opening weekend. Probably just gonna use power eggs at Foster and spinners at Quartzville. I read up on the regs and did see use of bait is allowed so might pick up some night crawlers as well.

I do have a couple questions about quartzville though... will I need my waders? Are there only bows in the creek or other species as well? I saw something about brooks.

I'll be sure to post a report and hopefully some fish porn as well

DUDE...thanks for the reminder!!!

If I am able; I'll be at Quartzville Creek! I'll be in an OSU baseball cap, with an orange bill. Plus, I sport an OFF logo on the back of my rig.

There are the usual truck trout. But also some wild bows, and native cutties. Not many of either; but some. Plus, I've seen some steelies in there before; and the Chinokanee spawn up there (which I've also seen). Also at the mouth, you'll sometimes find schools of kokes too.

WORD: any trout over 20", is considered a steelhead. So, if you have no Steelhead tag...must be released I believe.

Waders? Probably not; unless you really want to explore. Then yes.

Hope to see ya!

P.S. This is THE color you want, for Quartzville Creek (Fire Tiger Rooster Tail)!

I'll keep an eye out for you Troutdude! If I see you ill be sure to introduce myself

If you follow the paved road all the way up till it hits a bridge and become gravel there's a killer/easy hole under the bridge where hardware works great(pretty sure it's a drop spot for the stocker truck) but the fish are pretty red bands. I then work my way down. Nightcrawler on a 18-32in leader with 2-3 split sinkers above, tossed or drifted into the eddy water behind big boulders always yields fish for me.
Good luck

Thanks Socaaron. And Troutdude I forgot to say I do have my salmon/steelheag tag so if I catch a 20+ I'll ink my tag!

TD and STK leave one for me for next week:). Good luck to both of you this weekend.

TimberTodd, I'll make sure to release most the trophies I catch just for you bud! Good luck next week when you venture out there

I'll give STK a pair of hip waders, so he can chase a few downstream for ya. The pockets will be full!

You guys are A OK in my book!!

More than once have seen steelhead under that bridge.. didn't try to fish em, but did see a few laying under the trees on the south side.

Me too. But, I've never gotten one to bite!

Never been to this creek, but I'll be going in a few weeks. Thanks for the info!

Went out to both Foster and Quartzville today and got skunked at both! Had one hook up at Quarzville though probably a 13" bow but couldn't tell you for sure. The weather was pretty crappy too but hey I spent my day fishing and not a whole lot beats that

I was skunked on Quartzville today. I didn't mind though, its such a beautiful area.

Weird; but it wasn't stocked prior to the opener. It won't get it's first batch, until next week. Glad you enjoyed it anyway Todd. It is indeed a pretty stretch of Oregon!
