Fly fishing below JC Boyle Dam

Fishing was pretty good below the dam. Caught about 25 rainbows and 1 that was about 16 inches
 
You didn't take your pontoons down this section did you???
 
No way. Where I was at there would be too many sections that would be impassable.
 
Just so you know, these are redbands, not rainbows. They're a subspecies of rainbow that is excluded from the state record books, because when the dams were put in there was heavy interbreeding with landlocked steelhead, which made the brood stock much larger than most bows.
 
Yes I understand they are red bands I had rainbows on the brain at the time thanks for the correction.
 
What flies are recommended for mid August below the J.C. Boyle Dam near the border of CA/OR?
