Trout fishing is closed. I would check the regs as to what is open as I think only steelhead is.

Is the north santiam a good river for winter steelhead?

The north gets a small native steelhead run in the winter and you only can retain natives July through August.

Caught a 30 inch hatchery hen on 13 January. Water is really cold so steelhead are not aggressive but they are out there. Look for good holding water and cover it thoroughly.
