Kirk ponds, fern ridge

Kirk ponds, fern ridge

I think you are talking about the ponds across the street from the dam. There are perch, bluegill and carp in there, maybe LM bass if you can find them. I have caught some small but fun LM in the Long Tom below the dam as the water slows down as well as numerous small catfish. I also once foul hooked a huge (18-24") carp and fought it for 15 min before losing it and a good rapala lure!

why do carp get foul hooked so often?

Probably has something to do with being one of the biggest and thickest skinned fish in the water. So my guess would be they just don't ever have to think about getting out of the way of anything else. But when that something else has sharp pointy barbed hooks a snagged carp is the result.

kirk pond by the dam has perch crappie bluegill pumpkinseed lm bass sm mouth bass catfish carp u can catch most of the fish off of crappie nibbles

sorry to hi jack but is there a campground around fern ridge?
