Eugene pond hopping

I haven't been fishing much, but I'm also getting into big swimbaits $$

Spent some time tuning tonight and picked up a little guy

Made a trip Wednesday and picked up 6 fish. 2 pretty decent ones right at 3.5 lbs

One of them came with a butt piercing

This is the second picture in a month that I have seen of a fish with a "butt piercing". So much for the theory that they can dissolve hooks and the start of one that they just pass them.

Also, nice fish by the way.

Are you sure that the hook was
swallowed? And not the result of a broken off snag?

Maybe bass don’t have the same ability as a trout. But I was told, decades ago, by an ODFW Fisheries Biologist that hooks dissolve in 3 days. Due to an enzyme—if memory serves—in their blood. Incidentally that hook wouldn’t have been fully and directly exposed to that dissolving enzyme. If the hook was just on the outside of the
Fish due to being snagged.

It was definitely in it's butt, pretty tough chances of snagging it directly but I guess anything is possible, you'd think the soft plastic would last

What that ODFW officer told you might have been true for the time, but that was decades ago. Hook technology and definitely steel availability has progressed a lot since then
