Crooked crazy

Spent a couple of days on the Crooked with bigsteel and Onthefly. What an epic trip! I have been there many times and this, by far, is the best ever. The first day we caught about 30-40 fish each...lost count. The water was literally boiling with fish...big fish. The second day we met up with Ira and fished and got into more and were shown a couple more sweet spots to fish. I got my first double on the Crooked. Both on a dry. I had never fished 2 dry before. Thanks Ira. The biggest I got was probably 16-18". We only caught a couple of the usual small fish. Most of them were on dries, which was fine with me...hehe. The pics are small cuz I am too lazy to put them on flickr first.....





This should have been a 2 handed fish...hehe




I will let Dave and Jim post their pics. Dave has a sweet new rod.

That place has to be one of my favorite streams to fly fish. Can't beat the scenery and the smell of Juniper and sage. Glad you guys made it over and had a good time.

It was a good dose of fishing enjoyment for me. Something I have not done much of this season as well as camping and fishing with Dave and Rose. If anyone can make it to the Crooked to fish now, I would highly recommend it. Reports are that fishing has not been better there for a long time. Rose's two fish on one line should give an indication as to how good the bite was. Perfect days and abundant fish made it easy for me not to think smashing my fly rod in the tailgate of my truck was a big deal.:stupid:

Jim, nice fish!! I want to get over there one more time before the pass is impassable...hehe. Too bad none of us caught that "steelhead" size trout lurking in our hole.....hmmmm
