Would love to get a brookie again but Im in a wheelchair and can go about 100 feet on crutches. Anywhere in N Oregon where a handicapped geezer could et a brook?
Had to reply to this. I don't know about Oregon I came here in 93 but have never fished. But, I was raised in Burney CA near Hat Creek and my friends were in charge of Crystal Lake fish hatchery and Baum Lake. In my teens we used to go hand fishing when the creeks would go down in summer, Caught really big brookies in Burney Creek. I know some were 2 lbs.
Im 66. Was in Burney from 1960 to 1973 My Uncle owned Vaughns Sporting Goods, where everyone went before fishing Hat CreekDo you mind me asking your age? My dad is his early 70's and was born in Burney, just wondering if you might know him. Totally loves Brook trout, too!
In fact, I was once escorted of Bing Crosbys ranch at gun point. As a teen 3 of us were duck hunting on a neighbors ranch and strayed onto his land. No fences. He and Leonard Meyers and another guy ambushed us, took out guns and drove us up a dirt road about 15 miles from Burney and let us go. The town was mad at him. A month later I saw him shooting deer from a helicopter.Im 66. Was in Burney from 1960 to 1973 My Uncle owned Vaughns Sporting Goods, where everyone went before fishing Hat Creek
Does Gary Callahan ring any bells? My dad was born there, and lived there through 1979. I was born on Hatchet Mt., but they moved when I was 2.Im 66. Was in Burney from 1960 to 1973 My Uncle owned Vaughns Sporting Goods, where everyone went before fishing Hat Creek
