Best Floats for Steelhead

have forgot to slide the stop off the tube, and proceeded to tie up the rest of my float rig....and then realize crap...i've gotta cut it and start over.

just slide the stop off and leave the tube on the line to slide up and down with your float... of course, i've never done that...

I have no problem getting the bobber stop on right, its remembering the float that gets me :lol:

Friend of mine only goes fishing with me about twice a year, and he's notorious for sliding the float on upside down, and doesn't realize it until he goes to cast, and then you'll hear him swearing and reaching for the clippers to cut it and re-rig.

Don't know if would be helpful with steelhead or not, but when it comes to slip bobbers I've started using a small snap swivel below the bead and bobber stop. This allows me to use any bobber type I happen to have, just attach small loop of leader to bobber. Main line goes through eye of snap swivel, so it can slide freely up and down the line (hence smaller snap swivel so the eye is smaller than the bead), then just attach small leader loop from bobber to snap of swivel. Easy swap from fixed to sliding bobber. May be a dumb-a$$ idea but it wouldn't be my first.

I am liking those new floats from Elevated Tackle. The clear floats I have right now have such the tiny hole in them that feeding braid through them is a complete PITA.

I must have at least 6 different types of floats and not all are for every occasion.

West Coast Floats are tough to beat in most of my productive harvest seasons.
