A friend and I hit the lake shortly before 8 this morning. There was only one other peep and he was banking it. As I paddled out I saw him land a nice one that looked to be 16"-18" long. I started pulling a back crystal bugger. After 20 minutes of no hits I switched to a pheasant tail nymph with a bead head. I picked up a nice little one about 8" as I worked my way to the back of the lake. Turned him loose and started casting around the logs. Bang fish on. I could tell he was bigger than the 8" that I had landed, but was I in for a surprise. 15 minutes later I had a nice 24" steelhead in the net. Today was 3 firsts for me. First time at Lost lake. first trout on a fly and first steelhead on a fly. He gave me and my 5 wt pole a work out. We fished till noon and called it a day. There were 3 toons, 1 alum. boat and a raft fishing along with several folks on the bank when we pulled out. One of the guys in the boat landed a nice fish over 20". I have some pics but I cannot get the window for managing attachments to open fully. I will post them as soon as I can.
