Anyone try the Molalla for smallies recently?

I have some time tomorrow and I wanted to get out with the fly rod and chase some smallies around. Anyone been out lately? If I do make it out I'll report back. Thanks.

it's still pretty cold with all the rain lately but there are plenty of them in there.

They should be starting to become active in the slower, shallower pockets. Despite a forecast of 70 tomorrow, the river is probably around 42-45 due to snow melt.

Hey Adam you should stop down there an check the water temp. Oh wait never.
Sorry all inside joke.

Very funny, I just picked up a new one at dicks for like 6 bucks. If you make it back up there before I do, finders keepers!!

How far up the molalla do the smallies go? or do you just fish the mouth?

I have had good numbers all the way to Wagon Wheel.

FYI the upper river was 44 degrees yesterday, I would guess the lower sections around Canby could be 2 or 3 degrees warmer. Farmers have begun pulling irrigation water now, and the river gauge is at Goods Bridge. So, the river could easily be 6" higher or lower on either side of the gauge.
